A composition containing at least one NSAID formulated for topical administration to a mucous membrane and/or skin for prophylactic or symptomatic therapy. The composition may also contain an anti-irritant such as a non-nutritive sweetener, which improves compliance when applied to an oral or nasal mucous membrane.
