A method and system of electronic messaging is disclosed in which the electronic messaging system is configured such that the message content contains information which will drive the routing decision process. The message itself can be prioritized and routed to a pre-defined communications device or application, even before the recipient of the message has read the message. The sender focuses on the content and MessageML provides the constructs to tag the content and properly transform it into a viewable format for delivery to the target communications device.
