In the print system comprising a host computer and a printer for receiving and printing a print job from the host computer, provided is adaptability information indicative of adaptability between control programs and printer drivers in several versions. With reference to the adaptability information, it is determined that adaptability between the printer driver and the control program which have already been installed, and newer versions of printer driver and the control program. When those software programs have the adaptability therebetween, the printer driver and the control program which have already been installed are updated to have the newer versions.
